KOPER PORT HITS RECORD HIGH IN CONTAINER TRAFFIC
With a total of nearly 600,000 TEUs, in 2011 the port of Koper will establish its new annual record traffic of containers handled surpassing the previous record set last year with a total of 476,531 TEUs.
21/11/2011 17:31A few days ago the Slovenian port has moved the container number 500,000, so that according to forecasts by the end of 2011 total handlings will probably surpass 600,000 TEUs.
Gregor Veselka (pictured), president of Luka Koper, declared: “We realized years ago that containerized cargoes had a great potential in the transport sector and could therefore become a significant part of our business growth”.
“This perspective was confirmed again by the five-year strategic plan adopted earlier this year by our port”, he added.
Koper actually holds the title of largest container port in the northern Adriatic.
