ITALY, TRUCK STRIKE REACHES THE NORTH: SALADS STUCK NEAR MILAN
Started this morning, the truck drivers’ protest on the highway between Milan and Bergamo has already created damage to farms. In particular company producing fresh cut salads reports a loss of already 120,000 euros.

The company has the trucks blocked, unable to enter the highway to reach the point of delivery.
The agricultural organization Coldiretti explains: “Between Bergamo and Brescia there is one of the most important fruit and vegetable district of the region and a prolonged blockade could create serious economic losses to the industry as well as inconveniences to citizens.
With 86 percent of Italy’s commercial transport being on the road - Coldiretti commented - the truck strike threatens the Italians’ food supplies, especially for perishable products like fruits and vegetables that can not reach the shelves of markets. This industry is really at risk not only because of delays and lost business opportunities but also because produce could be lost destruction or suffer from depreciation – Coldiretti highlights.
