The development of the new discount brand of Greek retailer AB Vassilopoulos (Delhaize Group), Red Market, will start in 2011. The group now has two pilot stores under the name "Lion Food Stores" and the opening of the first Red Market supermarket is to be completed by the end of the year.

AB Vassilopoulos is interested for its future development in the supermarkets of Aldi Group, which is leaving Greece in December (see GM related news). The group, which has invested 29 million euros and opened four new stores in the first half of 2010, plans to expand its network with 6-8 new locations by the end of the year (including duty free outlets).
