One of the main requirements of the whole fruit and vegetable sector is to innovate (firstly the product – starting from the seed – then logistics, intermodality, etc.). Innovation is the ability to find new development solutions, decrease costs and achieve "consumer satisfaction".

Macfrut 2010 (6-8 October 2010 - Cesena - Italy) will host an initiative aimed at encouraging companies and operators to adopt creations which:

1) have been developed in the fruit and vegetable sector,
2) were put on the market from January, 1st 2009,
3) present a highly innovative and distinctive content.

The initiative focuses on the creation of the "MACFRUT Oscar". The awarded categories will be the following:

1 – Equipment and technologies for selection and packaging;
2 – Packaging and packaging materials;
3 – Seeds and fresh fruit and vegetables;
4 – Logistics and services.

A Commission of experts and Macfrut 2010 visitors and exhibitors will give each creation a merit score and the Oscar will be given adding the three evaluations. If there is a draw, the winner will be chosen on the basis of visitors’ preference.
